The impact of artificial intelligence applications on information, libraries, and archives specializations from the point of view of a sample of academics at Libyan universities

The field of artificial intelligence is a new tributary that is strongly imposing itself on various scientific and academic circles, and currently represents one of the most exciting fields in terms of application and inclusion within various scientific specializations, through which these specializations seek to facilitate their activities and tasks. The field of information, libraries and archives is one of the most important specializations that seek to employ various artificial intelligence applications in their activities and technical and applied functions, as artificial intelligence applications have been employed in various aspects of the activities and services of information institutions and facilities of various types and levels. In light of contemporary developments, the problem of challenges and bets has emerged, which constitute an additional burden for those in charge of academic programs specialized in teaching information sciences, libraries and archives, in terms of the need to pay attention to the current and potential impacts of artificial intelligence applications on the profession and the type of competencies and skills that should be acquired by students and fed into the labor market later. Therefore, the study mainly aims to know the awareness of the importance of artificial intelligence applications among a sample of academics at Libyan universities, the extent of their familiarity with its applications and what are the most important areas of its use, and then reach knowledge of the potential positive and negative impacts of artificial intelligence on information science specializations in particular and on scientific research in general from their point of view.
